Jobbar: Background Job Monitor

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 14 October 2026

Overview

Jobbar ("the app") is a macOS app developed by Dakabi LLC ("we", "us"). This page describes what data the app handles and where it goes.

What we collect

Nothing. We do not operate any server. Jobbar never sends your jobs, their history or any usage data to us or anyone else.

What Jobbar reads on your Mac

Once a minute, Jobbar runs Apple's read-only launchctl print command to read launchd's status of the jobs on your Mac: each job's label, program and arguments, plist and log file paths, schedule, run count, last exit code and whether it's running. If you turn on system daemons, it reads the same for those. It never starts, stops, loads or edits a job.

Reveal in Finder and Open log hand a log file's path to Finder or Console; Jobbar doesn't read the logs itself. Copy restart command only places text on your clipboard.

The heartbeat listener

Jobbar listens for heartbeat requests on 127.0.0.1 (port 17321 by default). That address is reachable only from your own Mac, never from the network. A request carries the name of a check you created (for example /ping/nightly-db-dump); Jobbar records the time and ignores anything else in it. Jobbar makes no outgoing network connections of its own.

What's stored on your Mac

  • Your choices: watched and muted jobs, heartbeat checks and settings.
  • History: job labels, run times Jobbar observed, exit codes, failures, recoveries and heartbeat pings, kept for 90 days in a file inside the app's sandbox container.

A CSV export is written only where you save it. Deleting the app deletes its container and everything in it. Sample-data mode keeps nothing.

Notifications

If you turn on notifications (Jobbar Pro), the app asks macOS for permission. Notifications are created on your Mac from its own observations; nothing is sent to a push service.

Purchases

Jobbar Pro is sold through Apple's In-App Purchase system. Apple processes the payment; we never see your payment details. Apple's privacy policy applies.

What we don't use

  • Analytics or telemetry
  • Advertising networks or identifiers
  • Crash-reporting services
  • Cookies, web beacons, or tracking
  • Third-party SDKs of any kind

Children's privacy

Jobbar is a tool for monitoring background jobs and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone.

Changes to this policy

If the app's data handling ever changes, this page will be updated and the "Last updated" date revised.
